Welcome to Avenir Farms of Vermont
We have been farming and breeding Dutch Warmblood sport horses for the last 30 years. In 2012 we purchased a retired dairy farm in the Lemon Faire Valley outside of Middlebury, Vermont and have been working to bring it back to some of the splendor of its past. Our goals are to renovate the existing structures, revitalize the fields to productivity and make the farm self sustaining as a homestead and for the livestock we raise, and a refuge for the area's wildlife.
Since the 90's I have bred and foaled hundreds of foals and started and ridden hundreds more from pasture to trail and competition arenas. Currently the horse operation has two breeding Stallions and seven third and fourth generation offspring from the Olympic bloodlines of Avenir and Argus. Our horses are bred for the best qualities in Character, Conformation and Performance. All horses are imprinted at birth, raised in a herd environment, and I personally start each one under saddle in ranch work, on trial and over jumps. We take outside mares for breeding subject to approval and will breed and foal here on the farm if desired. We added a guesthouse to our services - spend your holidays in beautiful Vermont. See you at the farm, David Black |
